The Customer Engineer will work as a member of the overall Customer Engineering team to support the delivery of proposals and projects as required by Angstrom’s ongoing business development activities. This role will be focused on planning, implementing and executing detailed tasks associated with customer projects to ensure timely and high quality completion of customer deliverables. Duties will include planning, procurement, installation and testing of equipment at Angstrom and customer sites; technical assessment and quantification of application needs; documentation of proposals; training of customers; and delivery of completed projects to customer sites. This position requires strong technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, a ‘people’ orientation and an ability to get things done under pressure. Willingness to travel and familiarity with Japanese language and culture are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and executes specific tasks to support customer deliverables
  • Procures and commissions equipment for customer tests, both on site and at customer sites
  • Responds to customer related requests for application analysis
  • Performs functional testing and evaluation of applications
  • Provides documentation, reporting, follow up
  • Trains customers in the testing, installation, maintenance and operation of Angstrom products

 
 
Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in engineering or technology discipline
  • 5 to 10 years related experience with engineering and customer interaction. New grads with demonstrated academic performance and technical aptitude will be considered
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of CAD tools for mechanical assemblies
  • Detail orientation, ability to breakdown high level tasks into incremental workplans
  • Track record of completing things once they are started
  • Ability to communicate (speak/read/write) in Japanese and familiarity with Japanese culture
  • Excellent ability to communicate ideas both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate as necessary.
