New Air Cargo Rules Support Angstrom Commercialization Strategy

2005-11-14 - Vancouver, BC (November 14, 2005) – Angstrom Power, a leader in Micro Hydrogen™ technology, announced today that it expects to immediately benefit from air cargo rules changes voted on last week by the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Dangerous Goods Panel (DGP).

The new regulations will permit storage systems containing hydrogen stored in metal hydride to be transported on cargo aircraft when certified to the International Electrotechnical Commission Publicly Available Specification for Micro Fuel Cell Safety (IEC PAS 62282-6-1). The new regulations will go into effect on January 1, 2007, with the publication of ICAO’s Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air.

"Angstrom’s Micro Hydrogen™ systems will enable higher energy density and longer run-times for a host of portable devices, including cell phones, PDAs, laptops and other applications,” noted Dr. Ged McLean, CTO of Angstrom Power. “This modification in air cargo rules represents an important milestone for the transportation of hydrogen and for bringing the world a step closer to Angstrom’s vision of powering portable devices with safe, clean hydrogen.”
