US DoT and Transport Canada Approvals enable expedited air and ground shipments of micro hydrogen™ fuel cell systems between Canada and United States
Vancouver, BC (February 2, 2006) – Angstrom Power, a leader in micro hydrogen™ fuel cell technology, announced today that it has received approvals from both the US Department of Transportation (DoT) and Transport Canada to ship charged metal hydride systems within and between the two countries. Angstrom Power is the first and currently only company to have both a DoT Approval and Transport Canada Permit, enabling trans-border shipment of charged metal hydride systems by air.

The transportation approvals allow micro hydrogen™ fuel cell systems from Angstrom Power to be shipped ready for use out-of-the-box. micro hydrogen™ devices store hydrogen ‘on-board’ in metal hydride materials and can be refueled from any supply of hydrogen via Angstrom’s line of refueling stations and cartridges. Devices powered by micro hydrogen™ fuel cells include portable lighting, range extenders, battery chargers and potentially handheld communications devices, including cellular phones and PDAs.

Under the approvals, Angstrom has blanket authorization to ship micro hydrogen™ prototypes and commercial devices for demonstration and evaluation purposes, thereby increasing speed to deployment and sales. A standardized Strong Outer Packaging (SOP) container is required for shipment. Angstrom is also approved for shipment of its micro hydrogen™ fuel cell systems via air cargo, ground, rail freight and cargo vessel both within Canada and within the United States.
